The Murmuring

Every Wednesday at noon, women who were kidnapped for sexual purpose by the Japanese army during its imperialism and their supporters demonstrate against Japanese government to request official apology and indemnity for their crimes. This documentary portrays sexually abused old women's suppressed story of overcoming of their shame and forced silence.

A Danish officer, Michael, is sent away to the International Security Assistance Force operation in Afghanistan for three months. While on the search, his helicopter is shot down and he is taken as a prisoner of war, but is reported dead to the family.

Posing as a journalist investigating intermarriage, Hannah interviews Lena who tells the story of a week in 1943 when the Jewish husbands of Aryan women were detained in a building on Rosenstrasse. The women gather daily for word of their husbands. The film goes back and forth to tell Ruth and Lena's story. How will it affect Hannah?

Moire / Écume

It also designates by extension the visual effect (moiré) similar to the one caused by this textile (changing brightness, wavy and shimmering appearance). Scum: 1. whitish foam that forms on the surface of agitated, heated or fermenting liquids. 2. impurities, slag that floats on the surface of molten metals.
